Medicare Options for Veterans

Medicare Advantage plans Do Not interfere with, or affect the eligibility of TRICARE For Life, or VA Health benefits

  • The VA encourages veterans to sign up for Medicare Parts A and B when they turn 65 years old.
  • VA Benefits and Medicare are independent of each other, so veterans enrolled in Medicare retain their VA Health Benefits.
  • Benefits that are offered by both the VA and by Medicare, can be used separately and simultaneously, without affecting the coverage of the other organization.
  • This also allows veterans access to Medicare benefits that are not available through the VA.
