Medicare Advantage plans Do Not interfere with, or affect the eligibility of TRICARE For Life, or VA Health benefits
The VA encourages veterans to sign up for Medicare Parts A and B when they turn 65 years old.
VA Benefits and Medicare are independent of each other, so veterans enrolled in Medicare retain their VA Health Benefits.
Benefits that are offered by both the VA and by Medicare, can be used separately and simultaneously, without affecting the coverage of the other organization.
This also allows veterans access to Medicare benefits that are not available through the VA.
Some benefit examples;
The option to go to a non-VA hospital or doctor, if necessary
Receive a second opinion, after seeing a VA doctor
Fitness, Gym membership
Medicare Part B rebates
Hearing aid benefits
Dental benefits
Vision benefits
Emergency room and urgent care benefits (worldwide)
Ambulance benefits, both air and ground (worldwide)
